Siva is a fourth-year MD candidate at Harvard Medical School. Born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, Siva earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from Harvard College, where he focused on medical anthropology in South Asia. After college, he followed his passions for mental health and outdoor education to central Utah, where he worked as a wilderness therapy field guide to help teenagers struggling with problematic substance use. Since starting his medical training, Siva has focused his extracurricular time on advocacy for better medical education on addiction and for expanded access to evidence-based addiction treatment. He is currently working as a policy fellow at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. After residency training in psychiatry, Siva hopes to build a career that combines clinical care, medical education, and state-level policy work within mental health. Outside of work, his loves include pickup basketball, gourmet ice cream, and his supremely adorable niece and nephew.
